Diversity of Species

OUR CONTRIBUTION TO BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY

We support nature in select green spaces: for example, through grazing and projects to protect endangered bird species.

PROTECTING THE FORESTS

Forests clean the air and provide habitats for numerous species. Protecting them is therefore essential.

Deciduous and coniferous trees were planted through employee participation initiatives. Through a five-year care program, we ensure they take root and thrive.

WORKING TOGETHER TO PROTECT NATURE

We fund diverse ecological initiatives led by nature conservation organizations. These projects encompass the creation of a geo-nature educational trail, peatland restoration, the conservation and restoration of bat habitats, pond remediation, and pollard tree maintenance.

TARGETED PROTECTION OF HABITATS

At MEG Roßbach, a large flowering meadow serves as a habitat for numerous insect species. In addition, we help support wild bee populations at both MEG Roßbach and Bon Pasta by providing insect hotels and an expanded food supply.

TAKING ACTION FOR FORESTS

We combine workplace health promotion with environmental commitment. Through various athletic competitions, our employees collect saplings that we then plant together in regional tree-planting initiatives. Here, we focus on a site-appropriate mix of native broadleaf and coniferous trees. To date, 5,000 trees have already been planted.

SPECIES CONSERVATION AND ECO-FRIENDLY LAND MANAGEMENT

At MEG Wörth am Rhein, in partnership with a local association, we protect the habitat of the threatened northern lapwing. By refraining from mowing local green areas during the breeding season, we provide nesting space for roughly ten percent of the regional population. Concurrently, MEG Roßbach employs a natural grazing model: six alpacas and seven ponies handle grounds maintenance across open spaces, significantly reducing mechanical maintenance requirements.
